July 2014 Monthly Activity Report

127kgs Monthly Activity Report July 2014

Welcome to my July 2014 Activity Report!

Each month I write a detailed report about my fitness activities.

Why Post a Monthly Activity Report?

I do this not only to keep a record of my own progress, but to be straight up about what I’m doing.

I kinda think that if you’re investing time to read through this site and are executing any of the strategies I write about, then you deserve to know that I’m putting my money where my mouth is, so to speak.

If you’re just starting out with your own weight loss and exercise activities, please understand that these numbers did NOT happen overnight. Truth is, I’ve been tracking my activity for 10 months now and the numbers listed below are very, very different to where I started.

Things to Note About July

July is always a busy (and expensive) month for me. Both my parents birthdays are in July and so is my partners birthday. My parents live a couple of hours up SH1, so that usually results in a weekend away. Plus, it was a significant birthday for my partner, so we decided to get away for a few days and go snowboarding (my first time!), but more on that later.

I also spent a few days working from home throughout the month, and considering I get the bulk of my fitness activity by walking to and from work, that hurt the numbers too. I’m not making excuses here- this is life and there will always be reasons why you can’t, or don’t want to workout. You gotta deal with that!

On to the Numbers:

All data collected through RunKeeper

Time Spent: 31:35:48 (hr:min:sec)

Distance: 153.4kms

Calories Burned: 10,529

Elevation Climb: 7,883m

No. Activities: 53

Despite the busy month the numbers are ok. I like to try and cover 160+kms and 8000m elevation climb in a month, and both of these are only just short, so I’m pretty happy with that. I wasn’t too concerned about missing a few walks this month because we went away snowboarding.  Based on how sore my abs and thighs were after snowboarding, I’m pretty sure I didn’t  miss out on any exercise!

Despite how fit I might like to think I’m getting, snowboarding was a pretty good reminder that your body gets accustomed to repetitive exercise. It starts to find the most efficient way to do the same movement. I guess the lesson here is- I need to vary my workouts!

Snowboarding was choice as fun though!
